Expansion work on US 1 in the Keys is obliterating the reason for going there.

In addition to being a likely contributor to the algae tide choking swaths of Florida Bay, the work on an 18-mile stretch of the road will pave over the only two free, easily accessible public boat ramps between Florida City and Key Largo.
