Midtown could see a budget big-box Walmart and a fancy luxury hill under construction at the same time. Hyde Midtown, the sister hotel of SLS South Beach, is set to begin early next year, and Ex Miami has renderings of the Arquitectonica-designed tower.
The tower will jut up 31 stories for a total of 372 feet in height. It will include 440 units, though only 40 will be used exclusively as hotel suits. The rest will be available as either condo units or condo hotel units. Over 20,000 feet of new retail space will also be included.
The property will be built on the Midtown 3 block, right next to the residential Midtown 2. Construction will begin in early 2014. No word on what prices will be, but maybe by doing all your shopping at Walmart you’ll be able to afford a unit.
