The fallout from our investigation of a little Coral Gables-based “anti-aging clinic” called Biogenesis continues.
USA Today reports that Major League Baseball will announce the suspension of “about eight” linked to the PED-pushing clinic either tomorrow or Friday. However, more shocking is that the league is “prepared” to ban Alex Rodriguez for life.

Milwaukee Brewers player Ryan Braun was the first to announce his suspension and agreed to sit out the rest of the 2013 season. It appears the other players might have also reached suspension settlements with the league, but Commissioner Bud Selig would really like A-Rod to join them.

Deadspin theorizes that leaking information that the league is considering imposing a lifetime ban might be a game of hardball.
“This could just be one last leak at the 11 o’clock hour to let A-Rod know MLB is seriously serious about this stuff,” the blog says.

In banning Rodriguez for life Selig could invoke Article XII (B) of the CBA, which states:“Players may be disciplined for just cause for conduct that is materially detrimental or materially prejudicial to the best interests of baseball, including, but not limited to, engaging in conduct in violation of federal, state or local law.”
MLB will contend that, in addition to lying about performance-enhancing drug use, Rodriguez lied to MLB officials while attempting to sabotage their investigation, according to one of the people.
