Sure, there’s book smarts and then there’s street smarts, but the streets in South Florida have never been too bright. A road sign painted on Pine Island Road in Lauderhill has been misspelled as “SCOHOL.” It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this is a fairly regular occurrence in South Florida.
Local 10 takes the “Oh, what a shame that this is near an elementary school” tone.
“It’s a shame… kids need better than this!” says Ross Palombo in a man on the street interview with the station.
But, in Florida they really don’t get much better.

Last year, Coconut Palm Elementary School proudly declared that “SHCOOL STARTS” on August 23 on a marquee outside campus. That was quickly fixed.
Back in 2009, the word “SCOHOL” was also painted on a road near Goulds Elementary School in Miami-Dade.
Kicking off the trend, Seminole County in Central Florida also featured the word “SCOHOL” written on a street in 2007.
We’d suggest the people responsible for these mistakes check the correct spelling on their diplomas, but we’re not sure they have one.
