The condition that the Florida Marlins change their name to the Miami Marlins as part of the deal for their new stadium has been well known locally for years. But the baseball-loving world at large (which we assume does not care much about the Marlins otherwise) apparently learned of the news last night during the MLB All-Star Game. The term Miami Marlins became a trending topic worldwide last night on Twitter as a result, and apparently most baseball fans have mixed feelings about the subject.
Some people seemed hopeful that the name change would help fans find the stadium:
