Gerardo Benedit and Victoria Lopez apparently have hearts two sizes too small. They went on a crime spree that can be described only as Grinchian. The pair was arrested for stealing several packages full of Christmas presents from outside homes in Miami-Dade.
The two, both 20, were caught on surveillance video stealing a package from in front of a home on the 3300 block of SW 140th Avenue this past Monday. According to Local 10, the homeowner saw Benedit swipe the package and then get into Lopez’s car. The homeowner tried to stop them but could only get the car’s license plate number. Police tracked the duo to Lopez’s apartment, where they observed the pair unload several boxes and take off again.
A short while later, an office pulled them over. They both admitted to taking gifts from homes and were charged with grand theft. Lopez was held on $26,000 bond, and Benedit received a $31,000 bond.
The pair’s haul included electronics, toys, clothing, and a festive stuffed penguin (believed to be their first heist).
