People send us some weird crap. Sometimes, it’s a tip that leads to a muckraking investigation. Other times, it’s a misspelled letter written with crayons on a cereal box informing Riptide that we will soon be headed to a fiery grave for our sins.

Then there’s this: a mysterious photo that seems to show former president George H. W. Bush in a sauna towel with a dolled-up Asian man (or woman, or both?).

Help us out people. What the hell is going on here?

The email arrived with nothing but a link to the photo and a cryptic, one-sentence description: “George Herbert Walker Bush and hermaphrodite.”

No one answered at the telephone number provided, and we really doubt that this is a hermaphrodite — not something you can usually tell at first glance.

From what we can tell of the blurry, Polaroid-like photo — or photo of a photo — we’re guessing our anonymous tipster probably meant “transsexual,” not hermaphrodite, anyways.

But we’re still left wondering: is this our ex-Prez? Did he take a quick trip to the local Asian massage parlor? Or is this simply an innocent snapshot from a recent business or charity trip overseas?
