Personal-injury lawyer seem to be some of the more blatant legal practioniers when it comes to soliciting clients. Apparently one doesn’t mind breaking the law and invading hospital patient’s privacy with the help of paid-off hospital workers and a shady middle man.
The Feds sangged Ruben Rodriguez, 61, today for conspiring to sell medical records. Rodriguez allegedly acted as a middle man, and paid Rebecca Garcia, 47, an ultrasound technician at Jackson Memorial Hospital $1000 a month for two years for hundreds of medical records. Rodriguez than sold the records to an unidentified personal-injury lawyer. The Lawyer than solicited clients from the records, and gave Rodriguez a cut of any the suits won.
Garcia plead guilty last Friday after being arrested in March.
