Philip Levine managed to narrowly avoid a runoff in Tuesday’s dramatic Miami Beach mayoral election, and because that margin was so low (just 0.47 percent), state laws mandated an automatic recount.
The results of that recount are now in, and Levine is now officially mayor-elect. No runoff against Michael Gongora is needed.

Levine’s decisive win is actually something of a surprise considering the three city commission seats that were up for election on Tuesday will all be headed to runoff elections.

On November 19th, Micky Steinberg will take one Elsa Urquiza in the open Group 1 race. Incumbent Jorge Exposito will take on prominent lawyer Michael Grieco in Group 2. While about-to-be-former mayor Matti Herrera Bower will take on community activist Joy Malakoff in Group 3.
