In this week’s New Times, I report on an internal investigation of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Lisa Hart, who wasn’t showing up for work yet still getting paid. The investigation is based on an anonymous complaint filed with the Miami-Dade Police public corruption unit. Here you will find a copy of the letter sent to the cops (which was also sent to me), as well as copies of emails between Hart’s superiors discussing her absence from work and a log of all the vacation and sick days she has used up since 2006. In a nutshell, Hart took off from work for half a year while taxpayers like you and me paid her for it.
