In a digitally distorted blaze of electro-house glitch, local party starter Panic Bomber, a.k.a. Richard Haig, has spent the last year going supernova.
First came his six-track EP effort, Calling in Threats, a December 2008 release loaded with crunchy club killers like “Miami Stunnaz” and “Disillusionment.” (Cop it at PanicBomber.com or Bandcamp.) Next, Bomber won New Times top honors as Best New Electronica Artist of 2009 while also scoring media play in France, the faraway land where blog house was born. And now, almost exactly twelve months since his debut, the man with a name from a video game is giving birth to his first full-length, Getting on My Mind.
But here’s the real news: With a street date of December 15, Haig’s hyping the album’s imminent arrival via a promo campaign, “12 Days of Panic Bomber.” Starting today, anyone enrolled in the PB fan club will be rewarded with free daily doses of Getting on My Mind goodies, like exclusive live photos, secret remixes, and advance video previews. Then, next Saturday, the whole thing’ll climax when Panic Bomber takes over Arcade at White Room for a bit of Day 9 mayhem. Expect bright lights, incendiary blasts, and digitized dance floor destruction.
