The ratings for last night’s Miami-set premier of Jersey Shore season two are in, and they’ve broken records. Amongst advertiser’s favorite demographics it was the most watched cable program of 2010, and the biggest MTV premier in ages. We’d pop bottles to celebrate, but sadly the unique goddess known as Snooki was arrested today while filming season three.
Last night’s premier attracted 5.3 million viewers. Sure, that’s less than the 9.95 million who tuned in to LeBron James’ big ‘Decision,’ the Shore premier was the most watched cable broadcast in MTV’s favored demographic of 12- to 35-year-olds for all of 2010.
Apparently the move to South Beach didn’t hurt ratings. Only 4.8 million people turned in for last season’s finale. And the premier was 300 percent higher than the premier of season one.
The program was also the most watched season premier on MTV since the second season of The Osbournes hit screens way back in 2002.

It’s not all happy news in Shore-land though. Snooki may have gotten sued while here in Miami, but she never got arrested. TMZ reports that Snooki was just arrested in Seaside Heights, where the cast is busy filming season three. Apparently she was busted for “disorderly conduct,” and that’s sad an all, but Jesus God, the pictures of her being hauled off by two officer while wearing a tank top that says “slut” on it must be a form of post-modern art.
