For once, Miami Police Chief John Timoney can brush off his haters. The city’s top law enforcer hosted a press conference today to announce that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has cleared the Miami PD of “cooking the books.”

A year and a half ago, Fraternal Order of Police President Armando Aguilar went to the FDLE with claims that Timoney and his command staff were intentionally downgrading crimes to make it appear that Miami’s streets were safer.

According to the recently released FDLE report, “there was no evidence that would indicate that there was an intentional systematic effort or an intentional scheme by members of Chief Timoney’s command staff to give any direct or otherwise implied orders for crime statistics to be manipulated.”

Let’s hope Timoney, in addition to dropping some trash talk on Aguilar, danced an Irish jig for local reporters at his gloat party.
