Here’s an oldie but goodie from the disco years. Foxy was formed right here in Miami in 1976, led by the Cuban-born Ish Ledesma — and also featuring Tito Puente’s son Richie on percussion!. The group’s big-time hit, “Get Off,” was released in 1978, and hit number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (and number one on its soul chart). The next year, “Hot Number” hit number 21 on the Hot 100, and number four on the soul chart.

Alas, that was to be the last mainstream breakthrough for Foxy itself, but Ledesma managed to hit the charts again, in the Eighties…. As producer for freestyle sweethearts Company B. Anyone who remembers Eighties dance-pop will remember their 1987 jam “Fascinated.” — Arielle Castillo
