It’s Throwback Tuesdays and with the release of Death Magnetic this past Friday, I’m sort of in an old-school Metallica mood. This song off the “Black Album” has always been one of my favorites because of the raw honesty and emotion behind it. I know some metal fans think it’s cheesy and marks the end of the true Metallica grit that metal-heads fell in love with during the 80s, but what can I say…I just like it.
I remember being a kid and not knowing anything about metal until I heard the songs on this album like “Enter Sandman,” “Nothing Else Matters,” and “The Unforgiven” and then instantly recognizing that good music is good music. It’s been a long time since there was a universal excitement about Metallica but undeniably, it’s back right now.
Thus far, Death Magnetic, their latest album produced by Rick Rubin, is reported to have sold close to 500,000 copies already, despite the fact that it came out on Friday and has only been on sale for 4 fucking days! So enjoy a little Metallica today people. Even though this is officially a Throwback Tuesday post, here’s the newest Metallica video for their song, “The Day That Never Comes.”
