Miami is a pretty bad place to be a homeless pet. Roughly 22,000 are killed every year at the local pound, and countless others are abandoned in the Everglades or elsewhere and left to die. Luckily, our furry friends have dedicated activists working to save their lives — and some are getting creative about it. “No Kill,” a unique photography exhibit benefiting Project Fashion Tails, combines adorable animals, hot models, and high fashion in a compelling show designed to bring attention to the plight of needy pets. The brainchild of animal lover Eva Danielle, founder of her eponymous fashion line, the concept is a partnership among rescue group Helping Homeless Animals, Charest-Weinberg Gallery, and hundreds of volunteers. Photographers such as Tom Clark, Cat Melnyk, and David Siqueiros snapped shots of models wearing lingerie, ball gowns, and stilettos while cuddling with the cutest underdogs (and cats) you’ve ever seen. Joanna Krupa of The Real Housewives of Miami even stepped up for a shoot. To kick off this compelling exhibition, the gallery is hosting an opening reception that’s bound to be chock full of models, fashionistas, and, most important, animal lovers. You might even fall in love with a photogenic new friend — human or otherwise.
