The Inffinito Festival Circuit returns to Miami this week with the Brazilian Film Festival, celebrating 16 years as the world’s leading exposition of Brazilian cinema. Featuring the best of recent Brazilian film, the fest boasts a lineup of competitive and special screenings at the Colony Theatre, New World Symphony, and Miami Beach Cinematheque.
“Brazilian film has grown a lot. We have five curators, top of the industry in Brazilian film, and they choose the ones that get shown,” says Viviane Spinelli, cofounder and director of Inffinito.
From about 100 submissions, curators selected 22 essentials. They include the opening-night selection, Selton Mello’s award-winning The Clown, which kicks off the festival Saturday, August 18, with a free, public Wallcast at the New World Center’s SoundScape ExoStage (500 17th St., Miami).
“We will be the first company outside the city of Miami Beach to do the projection at the Wallcast,” Spinelli says. “This is an opportunity to show a poetic and romantic film that attracts a family audience.”
