This could very well be the Hurricanes’ last chance to make a post-season appearance for a while, and both CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated predict the Hurricanes will wind up in a respectable, but not stellar bowl.
Both CBS Sports’ first edition of its constantly updated bowl predictions and SI’s Stewart Mandel imagine the ‘Canes heading to the Champs Sports Bowl up in Oralndo on December 29. That’s not too bad. It’s the landing spot for the third place ACC finisher.
SI thinks UM will be playing West Virginia, while CBS predicts it will be Notre Dame in a rematch of last year’s disastrous Sun Bowl.
We assume both predictions were made with possible player suspensions in mind.

CBS and SI also differ on who’ll end up as ACC champs and ultimately playing at Sun Life Stadium. CBS imagines an Orange Bowl featuring FSU and West Virginia (a rematch of 2009’s Chic-Fil-A Bowl). SI thinks the Orange Bowl will feature Virginia Tech and — can this be right? — the USF Bulls.
Both sites meanwhile agree that FIU will be Sun Belt champions and head to the New Orleans Bowl against either Southern Miss or East Carolina.
