Thanksgiving is approaching, which means Black Friday shopping hysteria is also upon us. The Village of Merrick Park might try to soothe you with holiday tunes and a decorated tree, but sometimes that’s just not enough.
Before you pop a Xanax, know this: There’s a sweet spot at this fancy mall where you can eat something nice and reasonably priced.
C’est Bon sits among posh shops and overpriced restaurants on the mall’s second floor. It’s a casual café with French flair, and it can be your shopping escape.
The restaurant serves panini and other prepackaged foods, but the best-looking item is its key lime pie ($4.29). It features a moist graham cracker crust, zesty cream filling, and a peak of torched meringue.

If you’re wary of a sugar rush, grab a salad. The tuna salad ($5.49) includes hardboiled eggs, cucumber, lettuce, and tomato. You can also find dolmas, chickpea salads, and other inexpensive prepackaged dishes.
Crêpes are another option ($3.99 to $6.49). They include stuffings such as eggs, meat and veggies, and fruit and whipped cream.
C’est Bon is nothing fancy, but sometimes that’s a good thing.
