Former Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington isn’t ready to accept that his playing career is over just yet, but he’s already accepted a job on the other side. He’s just signed with Fox Sports to provide analysis during NFL football games. Though he still hopes to return to playing one day.
“I’m going to take this year off, get healthy,” Pennington told a West Virginia newspaper. “I’m going to evaluate things and see where I am physically. I planned to make a fourth comeback but I’m at a point of my career where I haven’t been patient before. I’m going to be patient now.
Pennington’s last season with the Dolphins ending early due to injury. Then, during the off season the almost-35-year-old tore a ligament in his knee during a pick up basketball game. Sounds like his career is over to us, but, hey, the guy is a two time winner of the comeback player of the year award.
Pennington will be teamed with play-by-play announcer Sam Rosen. Of course, he won’t be the only former Dolphins player talking about football on your TV box on Sundays. Dan Marino provides analysis for CBS’s pre-game show.
