Sunday is an ideal day to go to church or sleep in late, have brunch or bake on the beach, wash your car or take a well-deserved afternoon nap. The Sabbath can be a great, golden day that offers a rejuvenating portal to the work week, or a completely self-indulgent waste of time. Make today memorable by scraping yourself off the couch and heading to the museum. Many of Miami’s finest artistic institutions offer free museum days. The current exhibitions at the Miami Art Museum, are both vibrant and varied: “Big Juicy Paintings” decorate the upper level, while “Miami in Transition” can be seen in the plaza level gallery. The weekly freebie at Miami Art Central (5960 Red Rd., Miami) often includes films, discussions, or concerts. The sprawling space is filled with enormous canvases, and a trip upstairs in the elevator is well worth it for refreshingly different artwork. MAC is open today from noon to 7:00 p.m. Call 305-455-3333, or visit www.miamiartcentral.org.
