Fidel Castro is ready for his first closeup in years. After pictures surfaced in the past few days that pro-government sources claim are of the ailing dictator making a rare public appearance, Cuban media reports Castro will appear on Cuban television tonight to promote his theory that the United States will soon propel the world to nuclear war.
Cuban blogs claim Castro visited Cuba’s National Center for Scientific Research last Wednesday, his first public appearance since taking ill and resigning as president in 2006. Cell phone pictures first appeared on the social networking site Ning.com, and clearer pics were later published on the website CubaDebate.
Now it appears that tonight Castro will make his first televised speech to the Cuban people in years.
According to the state media, Castro will address his theory that the United States and President Obama are pushing the world toward an imminent nuclear war against Iran.
