Most moms are worried sick when their sons and daughters are deployed to serve in the Middle East. Not, apparently, Paula Barker of Volusia County. She’s been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from her son while he was deployed with the Marines in Afghanistan.
After Chadwick Barker returned home from a six-month tour of duty with the Marines in Afghanistan in September 2011, he discovered something was missing: $4,000 from his bank account.
Barker immediately suspected his mother. He believes she obtained his banking information before he left for Afghanistan.
Mrs. Barker told police investigators that she knew nothing about the bank account, but after continued sleuthing, they believed she dipped into the bank account to buy an airplane ticket and to transfer money to herself via Western Union.

Barker was arrested Tuesday on charges of fraud and held on $5,000 bond. Talk about a bad military mama.
