A love and appreciation for the arts is one of the requirements for a civilized society, and ever since this past October, the City of Miami Beach has done its part to finally try to earn this label by launching “Arts in the Parks,” free monthly cultural events in city parks. Today’s offering is a timeless love story, Shakespeare’s Othello. If this yarn had been spun in modern times, you could call it a combination of All My Children and One Life to Live, with just a bit of Jerry Springer on the side. A tale of infidelity, betrayal by handkerchief, bitter arguments, and murder provide just the right mix for family entertainment. The Theatre Institute of South Florida brings you Desdemona and Othello, Iago and Cassio, all for free. Bring beach chairs and towels, picnic baskets and coolers
