Last night, Senator Bill Nelson cruised to an easier than expected reelection, and, because Marco Rubio has some decency, Florida’s junior senator took to Facebook to congratulate Florida’s senior senator. However, a lot of Rubio’s Facebook fans were just not having it.
Rubio’s statement was pretty milquetoast:
“I congratulate Bill Nelson on his re-election victory. During my first two years in the Senate, he has been a good partner in serving our constituents. I look forward to working with him in the coming years on the issues shaping Florida’s future.”
It was political pleasantries between two politicians who represent the same state, but Rubio’s base have no patience for manners, apparently.

Sure, other Facebook fans stuck to just bashing Nelson, giving Rubio plaudits for his class, or calling for him to run for president in 2016, but it’s kind of sad a Senator can get attacked for sending the most lukewarm congratulations to a colleague.
