The Daily Beast opens up its latest little listicle with this supposedly stunning little factoid: “In Miami, there are twice as many Burger King locations than tanning salons.” Of course, Miami is home to both the corporate headquarters of BK and the unofficial US capitol of natural sunshine, so that shouldn’t be much of a surprise. However, the Daily Beast says we’re the fourth most fast-food-loving city in the country.
The DB totaled up the number of locations of the top 30 fast food chains in America’s biggest city and then averaged those by population. Here’s Miami’s stats:
Total fast food restaurants: 535
Fast food restaurants per 100,000 residents: 123.5
Most prominent chain: Burger King
Given that we’re BK’s home city, it really isn’t that much of a shocker.

Our fellow Florida city Orlando came in at number one with a whopping (Whopering?) 196.3 fast food restaurant peer 100,00 residents. Tampa and Jacksonville also made the top 40.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re about to decide whether we want BK, Pollo Tropical or Taco Bell for lunch.
