Miami’s recent explosion of murders among black youths is about to go prime time.

CNN recently took an interest in Queen Brown, host of “What’s Going On?”, an anti-violence program Sundays at noon on WTPS-AM 1080. Brown started the show after her 24-year-old son, Eviton, died this past October when the car he was sitting in was plastered with bullets. Eviton had been a star football player at Norland High School, and was a recent father and a member of 5000 Role Models of Excellence, a mentoring program for young black men. The case remains unsolved.

The CNN segment on Queen Brown and other “unheralded heroes” will air on Anderson Cooper 360 on Thursday, May 3, sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight, according to a network representative. Then, the clip will play on the following shows: Tuesday, May 8, on American Morning, 7-9 a.m.; CNN Newsroom 10-4 p.m.; Paula Zahn Now, 8-9 p.m.

You can nominate Brown here for special recognition at the CNN Hero Awards, a live global broadcast to be hosted by Anderson Cooper. —Rob Jordan
