The 2010 Pulitzers were announced earlier this afternoon. Shockingly, New Times was not recognized for excellence in Kim Kardashian poop jokes. Maybe next year, kids.

The Miami Herald also went without any hardware this year after nabbing a breaking news photography win last year.

Gene Weingarten, now a staff writer at the Washington Post, won his second Pulitzer in three years, taking home the feature writing prize.

Weingarten edited the Herald‘s Tropic magazine from 1985 until 1990, delivering two Pulitzers during his time — and hiring Dave Barry.

You can read his latest Pulitzer-winning feature here. It’s about parents who kill their children by forgetting them in hot cars — and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. Riptide commands you to read it.
