So apparently Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, along with a growing number of Dolphins fans, are “infatuated” with the idea of bringing Peyton Manning to Miami next season. Which is ridiculous when you consider that Manning hasn’t even cut ties with the Colts yet, and there’s no guarantee he’ll fully recover form his neck surgery.
Now reports claim that Manning is “not throwing like an NFL quarterback yet.” Whatever. Its been more than a decade now since anyone in a Dolphins jersey actually consistently threw like an NFL quarterback anyway, so that’s probably good enough for Ross.
“I know some of the people that have seen him throw,” Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz said Tuesday on the Tony Kornheiser Show on 980 ESPN, according to PFT. “They say he’s not throwing like an NFL quarterback yet. That doesn’t mean he never will. This thing is going to take down. Structurally, he’s sound. Structurally, he can take a hit.”
Kravitz also used the term “noodle arm.” Noodle arm! That’s probably the worse thing you can call an NFL quarterback besides “post-Marino Dolphins starter.”

Pro-Football Talk’s Gregg Rosenthall then goes on to theorize, “He can play again, but he may only be able to play like a late career Chad Pennington.”
Cue your aneurysm. No doubt that remark was pointed sharply at Manning-crazed Dolphins fans. We just had a late-career Chad Pennington. He got us to one first-round playoff exit, thanks in large part to the QB-less Wildcat offense.
As a side note, Las Vegas bookies are now taking bets on where Manning will end up. “Miami Dolphins” and “Retirement” are tied for the safest odds.
