Getting in the ol’ automobile and heading down south to Cauley Square feels like a trip back in time. You can practically imagine homesteaders in their horse-drawn buggies blazing the very same trail you’re taking down what’s known today as U.S. 1, trotting alongside the freshly built Flagler railroad as they headed into increasingly verdant, fruit-producing territory. The architecture and ambiance of the Cauley Square Historic Village are genuinely retro, and it’s an old-school treat to wile away an afternoon at the tearoom or any of the folk-artsy shops on any given Sunday. But this Sunday, at the Cauley Square Antique Car Show, nostalgia kicks into overdrive.
This is a twice-annual family day out, and the first 75 vintage cars to enter the show get a goody bag compliments of Cauley Square. While you check out the European exotics parked along either side of this historic district, enjoy live music and a DJ spinning hits from the Fifties, Sixties, and Seventies. Admission is free, which makes the afternoon cruise down to 22400 Old Dixie Hwy. even more worthwhile.
