To promote his new book, The Party’s Over, and kick up buzz about his campaign for governor, Charlie Crist stopped by The Colbert Report last night. Of course, that meant some prime Rick Scott joke opportunities for Colbert, and the host asked Crist if he was afraid of Scott.

Crist took the opportunity to point out that Scott is not a native Floridian and claimed he’s from Texas. Scott may have spent time in Texas, but he was actually originally hatched in Bloomington, Illinois, for the record.

Colbert then goes on to poke fun at the awkward prose Crist (and his co-writer) used in the book to describe “the hug” with President Obama.

Crist later on suggested that part of the reason for the fallout from that hug was because President Obama is African-American.
