Giselle is one of the most famous ballets of all time. The leading role is also one of the most coveted; every ballerina who aims to be great aims to dance as Giselle. It’s the ultimate romantic lead, with its classical and graceful positions that require technical precision. And at Miami City Ballet, that role has been filled for years by Jennifer Kronenberg, who will star for the fourth time this Friday through Sunday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Kronenberg’s impressive history in the lead means she knows both the movements and the dramatics necessary to pull off the role of a peasant girl who is spurned by her rich lover, goes crazy, dies of grief, and returns as a ghost to save him from evil fairies. Yes, this is 19th-century romanticism at its best.
