About a month and a half before Twin Sister packs its dreamy indie-pop into a van and treks across the United States for a 22-city tour, the Long Island quintet figured a stop at midtown Miami’s Bardot would be a fitting warmup. This Thursday’s show is part of Bardot’s Living Room Sessions, a weekly music series showcasing some of the finest indie talent around the blogosphere in an incredibly intimate setting. No stage, no barricades — just you and the band.
Following the success of 2010’s Color Your Life EP, Twin Sister dropped its full-length debut, In Heaven, earlier this year. It quickly became a favorite among music critics and fans alike. When the group released “Bad Street,” the first single off In Heaven, the ’80s-inspired electro-funk track quickly became a late-summer anthem.
Fun fact: The “Bad Street” video was shot at lead singer Andrea Estella’s family home in Long Island and depicts the band setting up for a party. Estella recalls throwing neighborhood fiestas with Salvadoran and Puerto Rican families growing up. So she figured it would be sweet to pay homage to those childhood memories via a quirky video.
Ain’t that cute?
