Though the Philippine Islands are about a 22-hour flight from Miami, South Floridians can surely empathize with the people of the area. After all, we are acutely aware of the deadly force of a monster storm, as evidenced by our experience with Hurricane Andrew.

That’s why, when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines and left a wake of destruction, Miamians were drawn to help. The Local House‘s owner, Ciro Campagnoli, along with some friends, decided to host a benefit dinner to raise money to aid the victims who remain homeless and without adequate food and water.

Tonight, November 19, the Local House is hosting a three-course dinner. Fifty percent of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Philippine Red Cross.

The dinner costs $65 and includes a glass of wine, and there are two seatings, at 7 and 9 p.m. Seating is limited, so reservations are strongly suggested and can be made through the restaurant at 786-230-8396.
